‘A terrible pun, an excellent preserve’. Dummy Jam takes its name from the man who inspired it – deaf Scotsman James Duthie, known to his local community as Dummy Jim, who cycled to the Arctic Circle in 1951.
The illustration on the label is by Nick Currey and is an adapted version of the Dummy Jim logo as created for the website.
There are 5 flavours of jam so far.
These are Raspberry, Elderflower & Gooseberry, Gooseberry, a limited edition Runny Raspberry and not forgetting the mightily plucky auld Rhubarb (is it a vegetable or a fruit or a plankton, we don’t know!)
Jars of Dummy Jam will be available at Doune the Rabbit Hole Festival, the weekend starting Friday 30th July.
If you’re heading that way make sure you have some extra pennies in your pocket as this jam sure is tasty.
The maker, Evie Milo, recommends the Raspberry – she’s not much of a jam fan herself, but the other day when she tried the raspberry on her morning bowl of porridge, she was instantaneously converted.
